At Whispercode, we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our voice dictation software and services. As a voice-to-text application, we understand the sensitivity of audio data and have designed our service with privacy as a core principle.

Our Privacy Commitment

Your voice stays on your device. Whispercode processes voice data locally on your machine. Your audio recordings are never transmitted to our servers or any third-party services unless you explicitly choose to use cloud-based features.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Name (optional)
  • Payment information (processed securely through Stripe)
  • Subscription plan and billing history

Voice and Audio Data

Local Processing: By default, all voice-to-text conversion happens locally on your device. We do not receive, store, or have access to your audio recordings or transcribed text.

RAG Knowledge Base: If you use our RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) feature, the documents you upload are stored securely and encrypted. This data is used solely to provide you with context-aware responses and is never shared with third parties.

Custom Dictionary Data

Custom terms and vocabulary you add to improve transcription accuracy are stored locally on your device and optionally synced (encrypted) to your account for use across devices.

Usage Analytics

We collect anonymized usage statistics to improve our service:

  • Feature usage patterns (which modes you use most)
  • Word count for billing purposes (Free plan limits)
  • Error reports (with your consent)
  • Device type and operating system version

We never analyze the content of your transcriptions.

How We Use Your Information

  • Provide Services: Process your subscription, sync settings across devices, and deliver product updates.
  • Improve Accuracy: Anonymized, aggregated data helps us improve our developer terminology recognition.
  • Customer Support: Respond to your inquiries and troubleshoot issues.
  • Product Updates: Send important product announcements (you can opt out anytime).

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Stripe: For secure payment processing
  • Infrastructure Providers: Cloud hosting for account data (encrypted at rest and in transit)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights

IDE Integration Privacy

When using Whispercode with Cursor, VS Code, or Windsurf:

  • Code context captured by Vibe Mode is processed locally and sent directly to your chosen AI provider (Claude, GPT, etc.)
  • Whispercode does not store or transmit your code to our servers
  • Your IDE credentials and API keys are stored locally and encrypted

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • End-to-end encryption for synced data
  • SOC 2 Type II compliance (in progress)
  • Regular security audits
  • Zero-knowledge architecture for voice data

Data Retention

Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion.

Voice Data: Never stored on our servers. Local data retention is controlled by you.

Usage Analytics: Anonymized data retained for up to 2 years for product improvement.

Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update inaccurate information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
  • Portability: Export your data in a standard format
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications

Whispercode is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
